Helping West Sulawesi Earthquake Victims
The earthquake that rocked the Province of West Sulawesi (Sulbar), last Thursday (14/1/2021), left deep sorrow for residents of Majene Regency and Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province.
PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) again sent a Rescue Team to Mamuju, West Sulawesi, Sunday (17/1/2021). KPC sent three people, consisting of Andreas Kopong, Wahyu Dwi Saputra, and Mulyadi. This team worked for 10 days until Wednesday (27/1/2021).
Andreas Kopong, a member of rescue team who was dispatched said that the focus of their activities in Mamuju, West Sulawesi was the distribution of logistical assistance and medical treatment to residents affected by the earthquake.
Wawan Setiawan, General Manager of External Affairs and Sustainable Development (ESD) said that while in Mamuju, the KPC Rescue Team worked under the coordination of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources RI’s Disaster Response Team.
“For 10 days in Mamuju, the KPC Rescue Team joined the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Disaster Response Team. The focus of their activities is more on logistics distribution, assisting the evacuation of victims and treatment of earthquake victims,” said Wawan Setiawan.
Wawan added, sending the Rescue Team to the disaster location is a routine activity of KPC as a form of concern for others affected by the disaster. This is in accordance with one of KPC’s values, namely Concern. (*)
