Subroto Award for CSR and the Environment

PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) has won the 2022 Subroto Award, the highest award in the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) sector. KPC was recognized in two categories: Innovative Community Empowerment Program (PPM) (Corporate Social Responsibility-CSR Program) and Innovation. Technology Towards Net Zero Emission.

The award was presented by Arifin Tasrif, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, who was accompanied by DR Ridwan Djamaluddin, Director General of Mineral and Coal (Minerba). On Tuesday (4/9/2022), KPC’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Muhammad Rudy, received this award virtually.

In his written remarks, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia Arifin Tasrif stated that the Subroto award is the highest recognition from ESDM to business actors in the energy and mineral resources sector. As a result, Tasrif specifically congratulated the 2022 Subroto Award winners.

Wawan Setiawan, General Manager External Affairs and Sustainable Development (GM ESD), expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. “Thank you for the 2022 Subroto Award from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Of course, this is KPC’s greatest source of pride “Wawan stated.

Wawan went on to say that one of the Subroto Award criteria was innovation in the Community Empowerment Program (PPM) or CSR Program. One of the innovations is the use of water from the Kenyamukan Lake, which is located in the former Jupiter Pit mine.

KPC distributes raw water to the Kudungga Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in collaboration with the East Kutai Government, while the government constructs installations and PDAM installs the pipeline to the community.

“One of the good innovations is the use of Kenyamukan Lake water as PDAM’s raw water source.” It is now enjoyed by 5800 families, or approximately 23 thousand people. “This is an excellent collaboration between KPC, the East Kutai Government, and PDAM,” Wawan said.

Meanwhile, donations from the pool configuration program, intelligent pollution-prevention solutions are being made to the Field of Effective Mineral and Coal Mining Technology Innovation Towards Net Zero Emission. This program has a positive impact on increasing farmers’ food production while also helping to reduce emissions. (*)
